Coach Candis Jackson
Sprint/Relay Coach
Growing up in Louisiana, Candis developed a love for Track and Field as a teenager. In junior high she discovered her ability to both run fast and jump. In high school she competed in long jump, high jump, triple jump, 4x100 meter relay, and 4x200 meter relay, qualifying for the State Track Meet her sophomore, junior, and senior years.
Athletic Background & Coaching Commitment
Candis was named an All-State long jumper in 1996 and was a 4x100 finalist in 1998, where she tore her ACL before the relay. Despite the injury, she attended McNeese State University on both track and academic scholarships from 1998–2002. She also cheered for the McNeese Cowboys from 2000–2002.
After college, she moved to Texas and became a junior high math teacher but returned to coaching, working in Goose Creek Consolidated ISD where she coached basketball, volleyball, track, and cheerleading. After pausing coaching to focus on her two children, she later resumed coaching track and cheerleading upon returning to Louisiana.
In 2020, Katy, Texas became her new home. Her children discovered a passion for speed and joined the team, leading Coach Candis to become part of Katy Express.
Coach Candis believes that track and field shaped her ability to make conscious decisions and build character. She values teamwork, dedication, and resilience, and strives to instill these traits in every member of the Katy Express Track Club.
